Robbie Williams pulls out of MTV Awards - and issues very suspicious excuse

The MTV European Music Awards are one of the biggest events in all of poprockshowbizdom, so we're utterly bewildered that Robbie Williams has pulled out due to "scheduling conflicts".

The ceremony next week in Berlin would have been a huge deal for Robbie - especially since he's nominated for an award - and would have been a great chance for him to cement his pop comeback (and make us all forget about that wobbly X Factor performance) so what the hell else has he got in his diary that can be more important? Are Port Vale playing? Has he got a dentist's appointment? Or is something more sinister going on?

We have no idea, hence all the questions, but there's no way his devoted fans are going to sleep tonight if all they've got to work with is plain old "scheduling conflicts"...
