Robbie Williams - what a cunning stunt

Erm, if we we were Ayda Field we'd be a little bit annoyed that our long-term boyfriend found the idea of marrying us totally laughable. But it sounds like Robbie Williams thinks just that - his people say that his marriage proposal on an Australian radio show was nothing but a joke.

"He did say it, but he did it in a jocular manner," says Robbie's spokesman, perhaps a little weary that his client's zany madcap antics have ruined that Friday feeling. "They are not engaged."

Oh. But, in the event that Robbie does propose, how will Ayda - and indeed the rest of the world - know if he really means it or not? Marriage proposals from millionaire popstars are no laughing matter. We know this first hand, we got into a sticky situation with Barry Manilow once.
