Dannii Minogue didn't out Danyl Johnson - Ofcom say so

Since we've been through at least 72 other X Factor scandals since Dannii Minogue made that slightly iffy comment about Danyl Johnson's sexuality, we'd kind of forgotten it ever happened, but today the dramarama about it is officially ovah - Ofcom have cleared Channel TV, who are in charge of this sort of thing for The X Factor, of any wrongness.

Need a reminder of what the hell we're talking about? Well, when Danyl sang a song from Dreamgirls and changed the lyric from "the best man I've ever known" to "the best girl I've ever known", Dannii famously quipped that he didn't need to "change the gender reference if we're to believe everything we read in the papers."

Nearly 4000 people complained to ITV, accusing Dannii of being "malicious and homophobic", which led to Dannii apologising, Simon sticking up for her and Danyl saying he didn't give a monkey's anyway.

Ofcom noted that Danyl's always been open about his sexuality (we can back that up - he wasn't at all shy in the dream we had about him the other night) and concluded that Dannii's remark wasn't offensive or derogatory.

So that's that then. Now we can get back to mourning Jedward.
